It says the transcription model is not installed.

Tap "Download model" in the banner. The speech recognition model has to be installed on your iPhone, which is a one-time download of several hundred megabytes (Wi-Fi recommended). Until it is installed, recording works but no text is produced.

When does the transcription appear?

At every interval you have chosen (30 seconds by default). While recording, the most recent interval also appears on the Lock Screen. For recordings shorter than one interval, the text appears after you stop.

What does changing the interval do?

Tap the gear icon to choose 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 5 minutes. Shorter intervals show text sooner but run the conversion more often, using more battery. The change takes effect from your next recording.

I cannot record with my Bluetooth earphones.

Some earphones stay connected but never hand the microphone to the app. Recording starts, but no sound comes in; after about ten seconds the app tells you on screen and by notification. Tap "Switch to built-in microphone" to move to the iPhone microphone without stopping the recording.

I recorded, but no text was saved.

If the body says the microphone was not delivering sound, nothing was captured during that recording. See the Bluetooth question above. The audio file itself remains on your device.

What is the difference between pause and stop?

Pause splits the recording at that point, transcribes what you have said so far, and lets you continue the same session. Stop ends the session and combines everything into a single text. Both are available from the Lock Screen.

Where are my recordings stored?

The audio stays on your iPhone. The transcribed text is saved to your own iCloud and can also be opened from iCloud Drive in the Files app, so you can read it back on a Mac or iPad signed in to the same Apple Account. Nothing is sent to our servers. Long recordings take up space, so swipe left in the list to delete ones you no longer need (deletion cannot be undone).

Does recording continue when the screen is off or I switch apps?

Yes. A Live Activity on the Lock Screen shows the elapsed time and the most recent transcription. Incoming calls interrupt recording automatically, and it resumes when the call ends.

How do I report a problem?

Use "Share diagnostics" in Settings to send a record of what happened and when. It does not include the contents of your recordings. Please also include the version number shown in Settings.

Which iPhone and iOS versions are supported?

iPhone only, iOS 26.0 or later. Transcription relies on the speech recognition introduced in iOS 26, so earlier versions are not supported.
