mdTodo Support

mdTodo is an iOS app for managing tasks as plain Markdown text. Freely structure headings and nested checklists in text while keeping task management simple.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Where is my task data stored?

If iCloud Drive is enabled, your task data is stored as Markdown files on iCloud Drive and shared across your other devices signed in with the same Apple ID. If iCloud Drive is disabled, data is stored only in your device's local storage.

Can I carry my data over when I switch devices?

If iCloud Drive is enabled, simply sign in with the same Apple ID on your new device and your tasks will carry over automatically. If disabled, please enable iCloud Drive before switching, or migrate via a device backup.

iCloud sync is not working.

Please check that Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Drive is turned on, that you have a stable network connection, and that you have free iCloud storage. If it still does not sync, quit the app once and open it again.

Can I use mdTodo alongside Obsidian or other Markdown editors?

Yes. mdTodo uses the standard Markdown task list format, so it reads and writes files inside an Obsidian vault as-is. Point both apps at the same folder on iCloud Drive and you can share one task list between mdTodo on iPhone and Obsidian on Mac / iPad.

Which Markdown syntax is supported?

Standard task list syntax (- [ ] for open, - [x] for done) is supported. Basic Markdown such as headings (#) and lists (-) is preserved as-is when editing.

My widget isn't showing my tasks.

The widget and the main app read from the same App Group container. Try re-adding the widget from the home screen (long-press > Edit Home Screen) or restarting the app.

Are ads shown? Are they personalized?

Google AdMob ads are shown on part of the screen. Since this app never accesses the advertising identifier (IDFA), ads shown are always Non-Personalized Ads.

Is there a paid plan or in-app purchase?

The current version has no paid plan or in-app purchases — all features are free to use.

Which iOS versions and devices are supported?

mdTodo supports iPhone running iOS 17 or later. iPad is not currently supported.
