Live Voice Memo Privacy Policy

1. Audio and Transcripts
The audio recorded by Live Voice Memo ("this app") is stored entirely on your iPhone and never leaves the device. The text produced from it is stored in your own iCloud (in a container private to this app) and syncs across devices signed in to the same Apple Account. iCloud is your own storage; we cannot see what it holds. Neither the audio nor the text is ever sent to our servers or to any third party.
2. Transcription Runs On Your Device
Transcription uses the speech recognition built into iOS 26 (SpeechAnalyzer / SpeechTranscriber) and runs entirely on your iPhone. Your audio is never sent to an external speech recognition service. The first time you use it, the speech model is downloaded from Apple to your device; this communication is with Apple and contains none of your recordings.
3. Advertising
This app shows no advertising. No ad SDK is included, and no data is collected for advertising purposes.
4. App Tracking Transparency
This app does not collect the IDFA and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. It therefore never presents the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt.
5. Analytics and Tracking
This app includes no third-party SDKs such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or crash reporting services. Usage data is never sent to us automatically.
6. Diagnostics
So that problems can be traced, the app keeps a record on your device of when and what went wrong (for example, the microphone could not be made available, or transcription failed). This record contains none of your audio or transcribed text. It stays on your device and is shared only when you explicitly choose to share it from the Settings screen. Nothing is sent automatically.
7. Microphone Use
The app uses the microphone to record. It records only while you have started a recording, and captures nothing while stopped or paused. Permission is requested through the standard iOS dialog.
8. Notifications
The app shows a local notification when it detects that no sound is reaching the microphone during a recording, or when a recording stops because it could not recover from an interruption. Notifications are generated entirely on your device; our servers are not involved.
9. Storage and Deletion
Audio files are stored on your device. Transcripts are stored in iCloud and can also be opened from iCloud Drive in the Files app; if iCloud Drive is disabled, transcripts are kept on the device only. Swiping left in the list deletes that recording's audio and transcript together (deleted data cannot be recovered). Deleting the app removes the audio stored on the device; transcripts in iCloud remain, and can be deleted from the Files app.
10. Disclosure to Third Parties
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not provide it to third parties.
11. Children's Privacy
This app is rated 4+, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
